I'm using the 30 days free trial version of Adobe Illustrator and this is the first thing I've made. Who is this guy?
During the Spaniard First Republic a group of people from my home town (Murcia) decided to form their own country. they were tired of how things were made in Madrid: sending young people to fight in Cuba, the proverty of the people, So, in 1873 Antonio Galvez (in the picture) lead the Murcians to the Independence. They establish the capital in Cartagena (historic roman city) because was difficult to conquer. Cartagena was also the last city to be conquered by Franco during the Spanish Civil War. Many others cities tryed to be indepence as well but they couldn't as we did. We had our own currency, educational projects and an historic background.
Althought the new "Country" was born in peace the military force was capital because of the attacks of the Spanish government. When Spain re-conquered the area they punished the citizens of the town by struggling then, destroying their cities and killing the literates who provoked the 'Canton of Cartagena".
That is a piece of history of my home town. It was not the worst that happened to my people. After the civil war General Franco also destroyed the cities and change the people of the town. He hided our history and changed our minds.
